Adobe Premiere Pro is what we used in my video editing class, and it is a great video editing software. It has lots of complex features which allow you to work with specific details if you’d like, but it also is excellent at more straightforward video editing. I especially like Premiere’s sound editing options because it makes it easy to change the levels of sound and fade sounds in and out.
I included some tutorials below that can help you get started on Premiere, but there are also lots of YouTube videos and other sources with information on Premiere if you are looking for more detailed information or want to know how to perform a specific function.
